Parenting & Child Rearing Techniques

The way you raise your children can affect how successful they will be later on in life. Parenting styles affect children’s traits such as achievement, independence, curiosity, self-reliance, self-control and friendliness.

Child rearing practices vary around the world, with different cultures and religious practices playing a role in the way parents raise their children. The passage of time has also changed the way in which we view parenting, as we are now more aware of the importance of respecting children and their feelings and the negative impact harsh punishments can have on child’s development. With new technology, fast-paced living, excessive junk food and much more open access to just about everything; it has become more of a challenge than ever to raise well-rounded, emotionally stable, healthy and happy children.

There is no parent in the world which doesn’t want their child to grow up to be a respectful, productive, and overall good person as an adult. The responsibility of a parent does not stop at the point where the children are well-fed, clean, and healthy. These are, of course, everyday tasks but there is much more involved in child rearing. Besides fulfilling basic needs, parents must set a system of discipline, provide guidance through setting positive examples as children learn through observation, make sure their child gets a good education, as well as focus on their spirituality and emotional needs. Key factors associated with child-rearing styles include warmth, rules, behavior control, supportive responsiveness and expectations.

At Hissah Enrichment Center, we love working with parents to help them establish their parenting goals. We focus on effective child rearing methods and practices, that would suit each individual family and help parents figure out where they feel they are lacking and what they can work on to improve. Oftentimes, parenting can be overwhelming and the responsibility of raising little humans and keeping them safe and protected is huge. This is why we believe that support in this area can be of great help.
